I’m surprised nobody has thought of this before, really. There are plenty of people in the world who know how to make moulds. There are even more people who know how to make soap. There are yet more people who have found themselves with old controllers whose buttons no longer function. Yet I have never before seen something like digital soaps.
The creator of DigitalSoaps had some punny comments on their merchandise: “Fight viruses and malicious spyware with my super duper soaps. I specialize in the manufacture of PCs - Personal Cleansers - in unique geeky shapes.”

In the vast field of board games which I've played, none is more nostalgic and consistently enjoyable to me as Scrabble. It's no Spiel des Jahres winner, but it has a place close to my nerdy dictionary-loving heart. And I am not alone. It's one of those games that's won the hearts of people everywhere, and there are versions for many languages with appropriate tilesets and everything. Any game invented by someone with the last name Butts has to be good.

I thought I would grace you today with a couple of hand-made Portal Valentine's day cards. Had I thought of this earlier, you might have had something to give your lover today. Well... there's still time! Two and a half hours of time.

So sometimes, yes sometimes, nerds cook. Sometimes they even bake. Sometimes their significant others bake for them. When that happens, deliciousness and geekery combine to form something delightful and imaginative... the cake is not a lie.

I'm amazed at seeing that this game actually stays completely true to its concept art. In fact, it was hard to tell at first whether the concept art images were screen shots or not. The high key images, with their graphic, dreamlike quality were translated perfectly from sketch to screen.
I definitely like the fresh feel of the art...which is actually squeaky clean and twinkly fresh. I'm glad that they went for simplicity and clarity over the dirty, scruffy aesthetic we're used to from almost all of the recent games out there. The game is so out of the norm that the look of it truly surprised me. It almost felt like that sort of clean prettiness couldn't be done, since nobody seemed to be trying to achieve it. A breath of fresh air, really.

Debuted at the CES Show in Las Vegas, the Minoru 3D webcam is one of those gadgets that makes me ask: why did it take them this long to make one of these? Seriously, 3D film-making has been around for a very long time, existing as a viable medium since 1952. Webcam makers were this slow to catch on that maybe there's a market for this? Granted, having a 3D webcam conversation with someone will have the added entertainment of watching each other looking dorky in those red and green glasses. I'm amazed at how small an innovation this actually is. I'd love one, of course, and I'm sure it's mighty cool to look at. But really? It's pretty simple.

Maybe in some part due to the fact that various aspects of nerdiness go hand in hand, the internet has come up with more than a few interesting and funny websites on the theme of superheroes.
The first was pointed out to my by the SG, called “Super-Dickery”. Because, it turns out, Superman is a big jerk. Some examples from the site that made me giggle a little:

Usb sticks, the new floppy disk. Generally they're boring looking things, occassionally embellished by the manufacturer with a different coloured plastic exterior... but really, where's the creativity? Small as they are, however, they have become the object of many crafty fantasies for the DIY nerds.
